To achieve certification, a company must score at least 80 on the B Impact Assessment. For comparison, the median score for ordinary businesses completing the assessment is just 50.9.
Ecolytics became a B Corp to align our values with a more sustainable and inclusive business model, shifting from traditional shareholder capitalism to stakeholder capitalism. Becoming a B Corp was an obvious choice for us as it provides a framework for sustainability but also a framework to build a great company.
Our journey to certification began by incorporating as a public benefit corporation and completing the B Impact Assessment. Even though Ecolytics is a remote company, with a relatively small environmental footprint, we used Ecolytics software to seamlessly integrate with our accounting system and survey our stakeholders in just 15 minutes. This allowed us to immediately benchmark our performance and receive recommendations for improvement. The platform also generates an impact webpage which is publicly linked on our website. Since we’re continuously tracking our data, and have set up a plan for continuous improvement, We’re ready for when the B Corp standards change in 2025.
